About George Mays

As a visionary director who helped build Red Bull's media business, I specialize in branded-entertainment for avant-garde artists, brands, and experiences. For the last 25 years I have creative directed, directed, produced and written multiple digital media strategies for brands, musical artists, and record labels with the aim of amplifying the brand’s unique massage and building and entertaining audiences.

Most notably, for 11 years I worked as a head creative director and in house film maker at Red Bull Media House where I helped an energy drink brand become a media company.  Our brand message was “Giving wings to people and ideas”, and I was fortunate enough to build and lead creative teams across all aspects of this creative strategy, including concept development and execution, art direction, brand design, digital design, photography and film / video concepts, editing and production.

In addition, I have an extensive background in branded story-telling and worked with other brands such as Hoka Athletic Shoes, Yamaha, ATO Records, Capitol Records to fortify and build their media presence. I have worked with high profile musicians and athletes most of my career including Eminem, Skrillex, Diplo, Brittany Howard, My Morning Jacket, Weezer and many others. 

As an expert in story dynamics, my philosophy is to inspire our audience to ask “how will this turn out?”, and hold their attention to the end and leave them wanting more.  I specialize in helping people realize unique visions. I believe in possibility, innovation, and think in terms of innovative solutions and alternative perspective. I help people find their audience, and do so by creating content that prompts us to ask “how will this turn out?”. My background started in feature film production at Paramount and Columbia, then evolved into screenwriting and commercial directing. I’m always looking for a great story with outcome, that will give the audience what they want, but not in a way they expect.
